Ask questions about Security Systems
Be sure to ask questions when you have a security sales person over to your home or business.
Ask about their company
Ask about them personally
Tell them your needs and then ask for their recommendations.
Ask them about their company, try to get a feel for how stable the company is and find out if it is a small business or if it is a very large business and if they will be able to respond when you need them. Sometimes very large businesses will take weeks to respond to a service call request and if they are small and business the same challenge can occur. If the company only has 2 techs and one is sick and one is on vacation how will they meet your needs?
Ask specifics about the alarm systems or camera system you intend to purchase. You don’t have to know all the technical details although learning a bit about security systems before they come to your home will help you. Security systems are like cars in the fact that the price will depend on brand, features and quality. You may not want the top of the line although you need to understand what you are getting.
Talk to the salesperson to find out a bit about them as well. Does your salesperson hold a current DOPL Division of Occupational Licensing license? What training have they had and how long have they been in the industry.
Ask them how they would configure the security system and ask them to tell you why they would do it that way.
Ask them to listen to your main concerns and what you would like the system to do and then ask them for their recommendations that would meet your needs.
What you don’t want is a company that wants to get in and out quick, you want to hire a company that wants your business for the long term.
