CBS News clip about Defenders Inc an ADT distributor
Read the fine print in the ads and be careful what you sign. As you can see from my blog I don’t make a habit of pointing out the issues that other companies have. This report is an example of some of the issues you may run into with alarm companies. Some companies will tell customers that their current company has gone out of business and others will tell people that they are part of their current company only to sign them up with a new contract leaving the customer with two contracts. Always ask for their ID and their current DOPL license which is the blue and white license all security employees need to have on their person. You can also call the company to see if they have salesmen out in your area. There are so many scams you should be very careful, look up each company with the better business bureau and you also have the right to cancel in the first three days of your contract so make sure they don’t back date the contract which happens more often than you would think.
