Elevator recall is set up by having smoke detectors in the elevator lobbies and one example is when there is smoke on the first floor the elevator is recalled or sent to the second floor.

When there is smoke on the second or another floor the elevator is recalled to the first floor.

It also depends which floor is the ground floor etc…

What you do not want to happen is have the elevator let you out on a floor full of smoke.

Modern large buildings an also have smoke control systems allowing firefighters to move smoke from one area of the building to other areas.

FIRE HAT

The fire hat light in the elevator lights up when the smoke detectors in the elevator control room or the elevator shaft detect smoke.

When a firefighter enters the elevator with the bypass keys he or she has to decide to use the elevator or not and if the fire hat light is on they need to decide whether they want to use the elevator or the stairs.
