Hugs

You normally won’t get a hug from a policeman who is loaded up with equipment and weapons. Police officers have a job to do and I have worked with many officers that are kind and treat you with respect as long as you treat them with respect although you would not normally get close enough to an officer to hug them.

With your permission a Chaplain can and will give you a hug. Often a hug , a hand on your shoulder or holding hands can make all the difference on the most difficult day of your life.

Don’t hesitate to ask a Chaplain for a hug.

Police Chaplains are not just there to pray with you although we certainly will no matter what religion you are or are not. Chaplains often will just pray in our hearts when people would rather not pray .

All Police Chaplains serve everyone no matter your race, gender or religion.

A police Chaplain can help you understand what comes next, we can sit with you. If you want to talk we will listen, if you want to sit without talking we can do that too.

When you have a tragedy happen you can ask the policeman or detective onsite to call for a chaplain.

Yesterday an officer asked me how I do what I do and if it is hard. It is hard and I personally would not want to be alone if I had a death in the family and a bunch of officers in my house.

A hug can reduce your oxytocin levels (Stress hormone) and in increase your serotonin levels.

I work with both Men and Women Chaplains and all of us strive to have love in our hearts for all that we serve.

Some of our Chaplains will even sing if requested to do so.
