Recent Visit to Guatemala

We went to a small funeral for a one month old baby and the pastor did not show up so I asked if I might say a prayer, the family was grateful and the mood was very somber. Whether in Utah or Guatemala death still finds us and the need to call on God is the same.

I met many people in Guatemala including family and friends of the family. The people are also the same in many ways and different in other ways. The majority of the people still have great faith in God and I attended Mass a couple of times while I was in Guatemala. Their church is a humble open building and yet they show up, they manifest their faith and their love for each other in many ways.

I am grateful for a chance to return and meet with family and enjoy the culture, food, flowers and their faith.
