Low Frequency Smoke Alarms required
IBC 2021 requires 120 Volt Smoke Alarms to have low frequency sounders although as of right now no one makes a low frequency sounder on a 120 Volt Smoke Alarm. See link above.
Kidde, BRK, Alula, Gentex and First Alert make 120 Volt Smoke Alarms with 9 volt battery backup but none of them have low frequency sounders yet. Low frequency sounders draw allot of power so backing them up with a 9 volt battery is an issue.
That means you need to design your fire alarm system with low frequency horns, horn strobes or speakers and speaker strobes.
Simplex Fire Alarm Systems through JCI Johnson Controls Fire Protection JCFP has addressable horns, strobes, horn strobes, speakers and speakers strobes so they can be programmed to go off depending on what is happening for your ADA rooms and other rooms.
Example: If one room activates it can activate the notification in just that unit, if two rooms or more have smoke the Simplex fire alarm system can evacuate the entire building.
Simplex is the only brand with Addressable notification.
There are ways to design your fire alarm system without addressable notification by using programmable NAC power supplies setting off certain circuits when something happens although this because complicated very fast so having each notification appliance be addressable simplifies your system.
