Here is a report of some of the projects that Johnson Controls Fire Protection is bidding or was looking at and why we may not be bidding those projects.

Valley Pet Lehi - Plans state to match existing fire alarm but specs and plans do not indicate what brand or model number is so we cannot bid this since there is not enough information, it could be any panel.

Park City Marc Fitness & Pool Renovation - This is a Notifier panel so this needs to go through a Notifier dealer. Mountain Alarm is a Notifier dealer. FPS is the same as Mountain Alarm. Mountain Alarm is a Pye Barker company.

Ross TI #2733 in Saint George - Plans state to match the existing fire alarm system although it does not state what brand nor the model number of the fire alarm that is in the building so there is not enough information to bid this project.

Canyon Rim Academy - JCI cannot bid this one because the specification only lists out FCI, Potter, Silent Knight, Bosch and EST as the approved brands that can bid with specific alarm companies also listed.

Prince of Peace - I will be rebidding this project to update pricing that was put out last year so if you need a price again let me know. Larry.Love@jci.com

We are considering bidding Premium Meat although I did not see a specification or any plans for fire. I will see if I have time to do a design build design.

I am also looking at Beehive Homes of Fillmore

I was going to look at Museum of Illusians although it was pulled from the bid site so we will see what happens with that.

I am also bidding Sky Harbour which has 3 identical buildings. On 2/18/2025 I put out an RFI and got answers on all the questions.

Smith’s Store 158 - Johnson Controls cannot bid this project because Smith’s uses BOSCH for security and fire alarm. Protection 1 / ADT is approved as is Vector Security, Securitas and ATS for Fred Meyer.

BDO 330 was specified with Farenhyt only by Honeywell and we cannot bid that one.

Update on Aspen Dental - The fire alarm will be part of the main building and Aspen is only one of the units so there is no information about what brand that will be so we are not bidding this project either.

Daiso has an existing system that is not Simplex so we are not bidding this one.

JATC - Cannot bid this since it is Gamewell/FCI

Summit Vista Clubhouse 2.0 is only Notifier so we cannot bid this one.

JCI is looking at the UTA TTEC that bids on 3/3/2025 with Paulsen Construction - RFI Sent 2/5/2025

We are not bidding the Center for Change in Orem because that is an existing EST system so you will need to contact an EST dealer.

The Children’s Center Utah TCCU core and shell RFI sent on 1/24/2025 this bids on 1/28/2025 bid extended to 2/7/2025 This project is in Lehi Utah 84034 on N Holbrook way. We will bid this with an ADD ALT 1 to add a WP Horn Strobe outside the riser room. We also suggest that in the riser room that we provide 5 Monitor modules instead of 4 to account for a flow, 2 tampers and 2 backflows. The required pull station is missing so we will include that in our ADD ALT as well. The specification is on page 314 Spectrum is the PE Engineer. We are bidding this project with Simplex Fire Alarm. Addenda 2 and 3 were released 2/5 so we have until the 10th to make revisions and get the revised pricing out.

We were requested to bid BDO Depot 311 although the specifications require it be a Farenhyt system by Honeywell so we cannot bid this project. I sent out an RFI asking to be approved to bid. The Engineer is Colvin Engineering and the plans are not complete. Notification is not shown, There appear to be 7 Air handlers over 2000 cfm, we could not find any Fire Smoke Dampers on the mechanical. We recommend that the notification be ceiling mounted High Candela Horn Strobes. The drawing shows 2 tampers and a flow although most likely you will have 2 backflows and I bet more than just the one flow and two tampers with such a large building.

Carters in Lehi - I visited this project on 1/22/25 and found a NOTIFIER fire alarm system in the building. This means that the GC and ECs should call Mountain Alarm for bids. Fire Protection Services is the same as Mountain Alarm. No other fire alarm brand should be added to this since Mountain Alarm installed this system in the main building. The GC is Loberg.

Aspen Dental in Spanish Fork will bid on February 12 2025 and I sent an RFI to ACT Construction 1/23/2025 asking about items missing from the fire alarm system if you are interested in this please email me at the address above. This building may have an existing fire alarm system that will need to be added on and we need to know this in order to bid it properly. The WP Horn Strobe was missing from the riser room, there is no FACP shown and now smoke at the FACP and several patient rooms are missing strobes and the break room is missing a horn strobe. I did a site visit on 2/4/2025 and the site is a vacant lot ready for construction so there is not an existing system to tie to so the specification must be wrong so we will bid this out with a new system and we will bid to code including the items that were left out to provide a code compliant system as per the specification. Found out on 2/5 that a larger building will be built on this site and Aspen Dental is only part of the whole building and the Specifications want us to match whatever existing fire alarm is installed in the shell with Aspen Dental and the GC ACT does not have any idea what brand or company will be installing the shell system so there is not enough information to bid this project yet.

Vision Works Jordan Landing - This project is specified to be done by Certified Fire so we won’t bid this

Nira Medical - There is a design build fire alarm contractor on this could not get a firm answer on fire alarm plans.

Gameshop - The plans state no fire alarm is required and it is not sprinkled although there are fire alarm devices shown on the plans so it may have an existing system. RFI was sent.

Rocky Mountain Power ESB - Plans are not designed to code and much is lacking so this will become a design build project. We may not have the time to design this project so we may bid if we have time to put it together. This was extended to Feb 4.

Pickler with Kramer Construction - This has an existing fire alarm system and I could not get an answer as to what brand although the preferred Fire Alarm company is AAA Fire for this one.

FedEx Warehouse we sent an RFI out on this one because there are items missing from the plans so it will meet code. We intend on bidding as per plans and we will include an ADD ALT to bring it up to code.

Lehi Lofts addendum came out 1/14 although it did not affect the fire alarm and we bid this out previously

Texas Instruments BE 24144-1 - Johnson Controls Fire Protection can not bid this project because it is flat specified with EST only which is an Edward product. Call an EST dealer for this project. Convergint is one of the companies that does EST

ROSS TI with Stout - This is a Firelite fire alarm so call one of the dealers that does FireLite such as Mountain Alarm or Peak Alarm. There is a long list of companies that sell Firelite

SWTHZ TI from Gramoll Construction We are not bidding this project since there is no fire alarm plans or specifications. We will bid projects on a design build basis when we have time. Most of the time we charge to do fire alarm designs since our techs are NICET certified.

Central Bank in Springville - We are looking at bidding this project. We have sent out an RFI and we plan on bidding this as per plans with an ADD ALT to bring the system up to code.

Carters in Lehi by Loberg Construction - The Electrical Contractor on this job is specified as Taylor Electric. This system has an existing fire alarm and we have sent an RFI requesting what that is back on the 15th although we have not heard back yet and the note says to tie into the existing FA system so we cannot bid this unless it is a Simplex Fire Alarm system and even then we need the model number and we would visit the site if it is a Simplex system to determine what would be needed and required.

Tracker Supply appears to have a Fire Alarm contractor and a low voltage contractor although set up through the owner.
