Are Security Systems becoming obsolete?

Some people would have you believe that security systems will be phased out when analytic camera systems are installed.

  1. Certain experts say that security systems are reactive not proactive like camera systems that can alert you before someone breaks in. This is true to a point and analytics are getting better all the time although security systems still save lives and protect property on a consistent basis.

  2. Smoke Detectors from security systems dispatch the fire department before sprinkler systems are activated. Alarm systems also dispatch fire when sprinkler systems are activated.

  3. CO Detectors tied to our alarm systems also dispatch the fire department and last year we dispatched fire to a home where the entire family had been overcome by Carbon Monoxide and the entire family was saved. The dispatcher received a nice letter from the family.

  4. Security systems will also continue to alert you to flood or low temperature conditions. This allows you to get the heat back on before your pipes freeze or get the water shut off before the leak floods a large area.

  5. Alarm systems will continue to allow you to have one app to control locks, lighting, your garage doors, thermostats, security and more.

  6. We strongly recommend that analytic camera systems be installed so you can get alerts when someone is in your yard before they enter your home and they can be set up several different ways. The camera system can send you notifications.

  7. Often camera systems depend on WIFI or Internet to send alerts and our security systems do not so they send signals over a cellular network or both. If the WIFI is down our security systems still send signals.

  8. Security Systems do not stop someone from breaking into your home although with sirens, lights and the authorities being dispatched immediately often burglars will look for easier targets elsewhere.
