My daughter pays $80 per month for her phone and she is in a contract she cannot get out of yet and her phone won't even accept voice calls because it is broken yet she pays $684 more per year than her brother's phone and she can't even talk until she buys a new phone.
The site says the phone costs $249 with the discount taking it to $199 but with tax it adds up to $222 and change and the monthly bill that is $19 per month is really $23.15 with tax. Think about it, you get unlimited text, talk and internet for $23 per month. My son even gets Internet when his is not near a hot spot.
Here is the rest of the low down. The phone calls go out over a wireless network and that is how they are able to offer it for such a good price. Now the drawbacks: If you are on a call at your home and walk out the door then you will loose the call when you loose the wireless network so you will need to call them back. If you are at McDonalds and you are on the phone then you will loose the call when you leave McDonalds. But going from an expensive phone bill to this is worth the slight inconvenience. If you are not near a hotspot then you can still call people using the Sprint network so no worries.
