We also are known for being the State that headquarters many different nationwide security companies. Some people look at this negatively and others can see that these companies have learned a specific way to make money and it is working for them. Our company does not focus on residential alarm systems however we do them upon request. The free system is something you need to be very careful about and be very careful about what you sign. Most companies want you to pay 100 or 200 for installation and they claim to give you the equipment for free. Believe me, nothing in life is free, you either pay for it up front or later. If we charge you $26.95 per month for monitoring then know that if you purchase a system from another company that they will end up charging you normally $45 or more per month with a locked in 5 year contract. Some companies are charging $62 per month so be sure to make sure you get what you pay for. If you need to expand your system to 12 points or 24 points make sure the panel they are providing will do that for you. If it won't then find out how much it will be to upgrade.
If they use a commercial grade panel you will pay a bit more, you can have your panel monitored over the Internet using a Static IP address or you can have a cellular backup or a high supervision cell unit that dials out every 5 min which will notify you if your phones or Internet go down.

You would be prudent to have temp sensors, smoke detectors, glass break sensors and water sensors on your security system as well. We don't charge any extra for this and it gives you more protection. Normally adding points is about $100+ per point depending on the system. Find out up front what they bill for their hourly labor for service calls. One company here in town charges $220 per hour and when you compare that to our $130 per labor it adds up fast. Our labor rate is less for the installation. Normally at around $100 to $150 per point a 10 point system with the panel and installation normally would run right around $2000 for a quality system. We can also buy the low end panels although we don't recommend it.
