I take my daughter to school which is 3 miles extra per day or 60 miles extra per month which only adds up to an extra $18 in gas per month.

I also pick her up from work 5 days a week which adds another 5.44 miles or another $32.50 in gas

So this is about $51 per month and she had no idea plus her mom takes her to work which costs her about $23 in gas per month so the gas alone adds up to $73 per month and that does not add in anything for our time, oil, tires etc....,

Normally we do these types of things for our kids and we don't charge them because we love them but later when life hits them for real they have no idea so it is good to sit down and go over these things with them especially when they don't even say thank you for picking me up or dropping me off

Trip to work is 2.72 miles and then mom drives back home=5.44 miles Trip to school is 3 miles and she takes the bus home or walks Trip to pick her up from school is also 2.72 times 2 =5.44 miles

Truck that I drive gets 13 miles per gallon Van that mom drives gets 18-20 per gallon

Scooter gets 76 miles per gallon but she does not like it because she does not want to mess her hair up or wear a helmet.

If we were just to charge her for the gas to work it would be $54.60 per month or 2.73 per day not to mention the time and the time waiting for her to get out.

My gas to get to work is $93 plus $18 for Michelles school +$32.50 to pick her up from work in the truck so my basic gas cost is $144

My wife's basic gas is $23 for her trips to work and $23 for Michelle's trips to work plus about $60 for other driving around or about $106 in gas

Add my gas to her gas and it adds up to $250 per month and that does not count any long trips which we sometimes take to visit our son in Orem.

We try to get our children to understand what things cost so they will place more importance with their studies and college
