Salt Lake City held a CERT event today and had a film crew come in to make a short movie in order to inform and educate people about the CERT program. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. The training consists of approximately 24 hours of training in first aid, search and rescue, fire suppression, cribbing and several other areas as well. CERT members learn how to be safe and what to do and what not to do in the event of an emergency.

Disaster First Aid is a bit different than normal first aid and we concentrate on ABS at first. "Airway" "Bleeding" and "Shock" since these are the three main killers with most injuries. Additional training on other items is given as well although you can save 40% more victims with basic first aid when a disaster happens that you would if you did not administer the basic first aid.

CERT training can help you gain the knowledge to save lifes in your community and in your family.
