Setting up your camera system

I purchased a camera system 4 years ago from Peak Alarm, it has 12 cameras on it, some of the cameras are verifocal and some of them are fixed lens cameras, some have night vision and some of them .

Fixed lens camera cannot be adjusted for a tighter or wider view but verifocal lenses can.

The recorder is FLIR and it records FIFO first in first out and I get nine days of storage on the recorder.

I tied the recorder to my internet so I can view the cameras from my smart phone.

I programmed the NVR myself so it records all the time at 3 IPS or Frames per second FPS and on motion it increases to 10 frames per second. I have it record on high resolution and that is why I only get nine days of storage on a 1TB drive with 12 cameras Some of the cameras are 500 TVL and some of them are 700 TVL

The new cameras out now that are 2MP high definition are 3 times the resolution that I have. My cameras are good cameras and I did not buy cheap cameras 4 years ago.

Now you can buy the 2MP or 4MP or higher but keep in mind that with the higher resolution the more storage space is needed. 8MP is the same as 4K.

Alarm Companies can help you with an excellent camera system to meet your needs. I prefer to sell hardwired camera systems rather than WIFI camera systems. The WIFI cameras are either battery powered or you need to power them with 110V and you have to have good WIFI at the camera location.

Have your system professionally installed using commercially rated equipment, don’t use the cheapest equipment because it won’t last and it will fall short on what you need it to do.

Johnson Controls does not sell systems for residential although we do for commercial.
