7 things to get from your alarm company

When you have an alarm installed or even after you have your alarm installed there are things you should ask for from your alarm company.

  1. A copy of the agreement and the call list you gave them. This will help you keep track of dates and information. Most contracts are 3 years and some are 5 so you need to know that and some of them renew after the initial term on a year to year basis and others have different periods listed.

  2. A letter from your Alarm Company for your insurance so you can get a discount. Many insurance companies give you a discount for having a security system and more if you have water sensors, smoke detectors and temperature sensors in addition to the security.

  3. Training, you need to feel good and comfortable on how to use your system, add or delete a code and how to look up history. In many of our systems there are training videos that you can access on the touch screen of the security panel. Others have training on the manufacturer’s web site. If you don’t feel comfortable using your system just ask for training.

  4. Ask for information about a discount or monitoring credit for when you refer other people to buy systems from them. Peak Alarm offers 3 free months of monitoring. (up to $150) when you refer someone that actually buys a system through Peak Alarm. Make sure you stay in contact with your sales person in order to take advantage of this great way to get free monitoring.

  5. A copy of your alarm zones or point list. If you ever did decide to change alarm monitoring companies this zone list can assist the new company.

  6. Warranty information and service rates. Some companies claim to give you free equipment and when you need service their rates are very high. You should also ask for the extended warranty pricing and information so you can decide if you want that option. I don’t buy that on all the products I get but I do buy it on some things and it can save you money in the long run.

  7. A contact list with the phone numbers for SERVICE, DISPATCH and your SALESPERSON’s cell phone.
