Fire rated wire

Make sure to install the proper cable

Each Fire Alarm brand will have information on what wire to install. Some brands require so many twists per foot for data transfer on addressable systems.

If it is a plenum ceiling make sure to install plenum cable

If it is more than one story it needs to be FPLR riser cable

For Horn Strobes often you will install 14 gauge 2 conductor cable . For many systems you may need 18g4c or 18g2c FPL, FPLR or FPLP cable.

If you have to have CLASS A loops/circuits then you will need to be at least 5 feet apart on the runs going out and back.

For Speaker Strobes often you will need to have shielded cable that is also fire rated so check the specifications before installing the cable. Do not install low voltage and high voltage in the same conduit or right next to each other since the low voltage can get induction from the high voltage.

Depending on the length of the cable and how many devices or appliances are on the wire will affect your voltage line drop calculations and battery calculations so make sure to figure that out ahead of time otherwise you might not pass the fire inspection if the last horn strobes on the circuit do not sound or flash.
