Different uses for camera systems
You may not have considered all the benefits that a camera system can give you.
Camera systems deter crime but do not always prevent it. Using a camera system in conjunction with a security system and an access control system is the most effective way.
Camera systems also capture people trying to fake accidents and they also capture actual accidents giving you an advantage as far as liability goes.
A young man in a grocery store fell and broke his leg and he said he just fell but after reviewing the footage we saw a girl chasing him around the store after hours with a can of hair spray and he fell down the lift to the basement because of horseplay so it was an accident but they were obviously breaking the rules so often insurance companies will want footage of accidents.
Having a camera system on your swimming pool areas also limits liability showing people running and falling.
When you have cameras on your walk ways you can prove that the walks were shoveled and ice melt was placed on the walks when someone tries to sue you for not clearing off your sidewalks.
Camera systems capture fights on your property and having the recording can benefit you in a court of law.
When placed properly camera systems can capture theft or car accidents in your parking lot.
Use your camera system wisely for training purposes. Comment to your employees that you were watching the camera recordings and saw how they took initiative to clean up an area and tell them you appreciate it. This simple interaction will spread the word that you actually review and look at the footage and other employees will note this.
Most theft is done by employees and even family members of the home or business and when camera systems are installed often the theft will be reduced or stop.
We installed a camera system in a daycare and a month later the owner of the daycare fired 2 people for hitting the kids. These cameras were not hidden but overt cameras.
Personally I have 12 cameras on my home and I can check on my dogs, my cars and I can see if the kids have come home from school because I have footage as well as getting a disarm report when they get home from my security system.
Camera systems have many uses and I have listed just a few above. When you have a camera system installed use them as a positive training aid as mentioned.
