Fire Alarms in Utah Testing, cleaning and maintenance (Before cleaning check the manufactures instructions)

Many detectors have different requirements for testing and cleaning. It is best if you have the fire contractor present you with some service options for maintenance. Different brands of detectors require different methods of cleaning. Some detectors can be kept fairly clean if they are sprayed with canned air as per manufactures specs, others need to be taken down and vacuumed and have the chambers wiped out with a clean dry cloth. Most of the time you should avoid getting them wet or using any cleaners such as soap or any spray cleaners since this can damage the components and weaken the plastic. Your detectors will also need to be calibrated every so often. Please refer to the manufactures instructions on this matter. AS&F has known owners that rather than have the detectors cleaned and calibrated have just purchased new detectors. If you keep your detectors clean they will last quite a long time. It is important that you have a regular program to test and clean the detectors. When using canned smoke follow the instructions on the can. Some brands of canned smoke can damage or clog up the detectors leaving them less effective after testing. Most of the time the maintenance personnel do not have time for such a program and are not trained and certified for certifying the system. Your fire alarm contractor will provide you with a list of devices that were tested and a certification of the system each time it is tested and or cleaned.

Leasing and Maintenance Contracts -Peak Alarm will put together a package to meet the individual needs of each project upon request. Leasing options are available for those who would like to upgrade their systems or install new systems on a budget. Maintenance Contracts will include the certification and testing reports as well as an ongoing maintenance program. Fire Alarms in Utah refers to Peak Alarm www.PeakAlarm.com
